hey, nothing new, been watching the huricane coverage on tv all day today. L is still in gburo, seems to be having fun, she will be back tomarrow i guess. played some more planescape. played some advanced wars 2. drove a bit today. nothing really, waiting on a download to finish. learned how to touch the tip of a cig to its filter without breaking it. going to try to paint something. peace.

didnt think it had been this long since i had updated this. life goes on, not much to report, atleast nothing that sticks out in my mind. have been playing planescape: torment for the past few days, is a good game. nice setting. anyway, really just wanted to see if this firefox spellchecker works durrr, seems it doesnt, not going to bother checking why right now. it is hot outside, sticky inside. tired, but want something to do. just lonely i guess. ah, nothing for it though. one of these days i am going to get on the path, but it seems it is not today.

L came by again today. she is still hung up on her man. tried to gage where she was at. i got zero chance. it is going to suck when she finds someone else. it sucks enough that she doesnt want me. but to have her flaunt it in my face? well that wont happen because she wont be hanging around as much. which also means less free weed. hell, i might have to get my life together. is a shame to, i dont have much to offer, but atleast i would love her. se la vie, la vie.

the landscape has changed around here. L talked on the phone with her man for about an hour. i was in the other room watching ufc. turns out that he has a woman he has been messing around with. im sure that she is busted up over this, she was about to fly down to see him later this week after being apart for two months. im sure she will come out okay, it is just that i feel bad seeing her hurt. i felt bad for trying to make on her because i thought that ben was a nice guy. have to keep an eye on her though, i dont really know her background on breakups. i might be an asshole, but i think im going to make a move. sneaky quiet and make sure that i have the hook set before i start trying to reel of course, but i think i might get something out of it. we will see. if anyone is reading this just send me a "hey" email.

no updates for a while, meh.

got that mp3 player today, it is a wavex 830c.

Package contains: mp3 player, plastic coated wire lanyard, usb cable, usb keychain dongle, earbuds, software cd.

the wavex 830c is a nice small 512mb flash based mp3 player. unlike the silver/black players shown on the packageing i recieved a silver/silver player.

The 830c is a good fit for either right or left handed use thanks to the clickable joystick nub in the center of the device. Most interaction with the device is through this joystick, but the design of the interface leaves a little to be desired right out of the box, but with a quick read of the manual and a few hours playing around with it you get the hand pretty quick.

Playback through headphones is loud and clear, although the included earbuds are a strange hourglass shape that makes you look like Lt. Uhura from Star Trek. Sound from my Sony headphones is as good as anything. The player has a pair of small speakers on either side of the unit, sound is okay, you wont be throwing a party with this thing, but it is good enough to share a track or two with a friend, or to listen to voice mesages. If you are holding it in you hand your palm will be covering one of the speakers.

Voice recording with the built in mike is quite good, able to pick up sound from across the room without much hiss or static. I havent used the line in recording option, but the manual claims that the player can insert breaks in between cd tracks.

FM playback is strange, the player uses your headphone cable as the antenna and outputs via the onboard speakers so if you want to listen to the radio everyone around you has to too.

The screen is a bright 65000 color lcd. It is protected by a clear plastic screen that i doubt will stand up to much abuse.

Interface with the pc is easy, just plug it in to a usb port and Windows will recognize it as a usb storage device. Moving and copying files is slow on the unit thanks to the usb1.1 interface.

the bundled software is mymanagerplus and pc net pc. mymanager is a simple address book that is useless and an even more useless image manipulation program to crop a jpg to 128x128 and save it as logo.jpg for use as a replacement welcome screen. pc net pc is some sort of proxy ssh client that i would rather not use. so all in all toss the cd that comes with the device unless you need the win98 drivers on it.

Jpeg files can be viewed on the screen in picture mode, scaled down to fit on screen. sound playback is not posiable while the picture viewer is running.

The included games are the clasic othello and treasure quest, a block sliding puzzle. it might be worth it if you want to kill a few minutes on the train but dont throw out your gba.

i will update this review in a few weeks to feature battery life and any problems that crop up.

 

one software bug that i have found is that when set to show the id3 tags on mp3s the first file is fine, but subsquent files display the id3 info in korean text.

still dick shit to do. talked to L, she is gonna stop by later. has been a nice day, lots cooler than it has been. would mow the lawn (yep, still on my todo list) but the ground is wet from the rain we got earlier today. need a job and quick, only so much i can do around here. prolly need a good psych first. but oh well.

yep, wasted yesterday. out of green, which is good, weather is wet but at least it isn't hot. that mp3 player should ship today, hope i can get it before the end of the week, but monday looks like a better chance. just bored, trying to find something useful to do. trimmed the pots my mom made yesterday, cleaned my room a bit, but that is it. am randy.

had this wiki added to the pbwiki central. watched fargate and battlestar, having claudia black and ben browder on the show does not help much when the stories are lame passion plays. galactica however is still strong, i liked a lot of the work that EJO did. grace park how ever has my heart.

Went to EC last night, saw shell, she seems to be holding up well, but i know it is hard on her. ate some sushi, was good. managed not to do anything stupid. spent a little scratch but no problems there. still havent got around to mowing the lawn, is 9/11 all day today on the news due to the tapes being released. have a torrent going for BSG and SG1 from last night, wish they would hurry and finish so i can kill an hour and a half.

been a few days; had my birthday, nothing spectacular. worked, made some cash that will help out. got a mild sun burn. am taking most of the day off. might unload the van and mow the lawn this evening if it is not too hot and i am not too busy.

L stopped by for a sec, to get that thing i had for her. Seeing if i can exert some self control, which i have precious little of since i stoped smoking cigs. On that point, i have been putting on quite a bit of weight the last few weeks. I think that stoping exercising has a bit to do with it. My neck just feels fat. Having the weed around durring the day, and my mom here too is a bit too much, if i was in a right mind i would be working hard to get out of here. But when have i ever been in a right mind.
